OK, so these weren't necessarily created for International Women's Day 2019 (in fact, one of them is quite old now) but it's impact is just as relevant today as when it first appeared (sadly!). So, in support of March 8, 2019, and women around the world, we've selected a couple of videos that we think everyone ought to have seen if they haven't already (if you have, then we encourage you to watch them again, as there's much we can learn) #BalanceforBetter
In this Ad campaign, Always managed to do something truly inspirational that goes to show the power of video (when it's done well!). Instead of advertising their product directly, as many companies do, they opted to challenge a harmful stereotype, which labels women and girls as "lesser" than men. This powerful and inspirational Ad makes people stop and think about empowerment in the hope to bring a greater sense of self-confidence to both girls and women. At the time of writing this post, the video has been watched just under 67 million times on YouTube alone. #LikeAGirl
Nike - Dream Crazier
Nike often divides opinion on it's labour policy but this isn't the time or place to get into that here—we're talking videos. This recent Ad campaign by them is quite simple yet very effective. Take some inspirational footage, add a powerful script that is brought to life with a compelling voiceover, mix in the music and shazam! Powerful, inspiring storytelling that engages the viewer on an emotional level and challenges them to think.
